GTFO ICE (Get The Facilities Out) is a national rapid-response network designed to alert communities about proposed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities and mobilize public opposition before those facilities are established. The platform connects users to real-time alerts, organizing tools, and guidance for engaging in local advocacy efforts related to detention center development.
The initiative was launched through a coalition that includes DEFIANCE.org, the Save America Movement, and Project Saltbox. It is designed to function as an early-warning system, using data tracking and community reporting to identify potential detention sites and notify nearby residents.
A core feature of the platform is its focus on rapid mobilization. When a potential facility is identified, users receive alerts along with resources for contacting local officials, organizing protests, and applying public pressure. The strategy, sometimes described as “crowd canceling,” aims to stop detention projects before contracts are finalized or construction begins.
For activists, organizers, and community members, GTFO ICE serves as a coordination tool that links data, communication, and action. It lowers the barrier to participation by providing clear, actionable steps and connecting local efforts to a broader national network focused on immigration policy and detention oversight.
