Visibility Brigade is a grassroots, non-violent volunteer movement that places physical messaging in public spaces—especially pedestrian overpasses over busy roads—to engage everyday people and activate pro-democracy participation. The project began in 2020 in Paramus, New Jersey, out of frustration at the lack of visible, real-world civic messaging and has since grown to include hundreds of local brigades nationwide.
What They Do

Organize local volunteer groups to hold large visible signs with pro-democracy messages overpasses and other busy public spaces.

Provide toolkits and protocols on safe public nonviolent display actions.

Encourage participants to wave and interact with passersby to show that active civic resistance and engagement are possible.
