Distill Social is a Michigan-based grassroots civic advocacy and media organization that uses digital platforms, social content, and in-person mobilization to combat disinformation, educate voters, and drive progressive civic engagement — especially among younger and disengaged voters.
What They Do
-
Publish news, analysis, and commentary on local and national politics with an emphasis on clear, unfiltered information.
-
Produce podcasts and social content designed to break down complex political issues (e.g., Point of Disorder).
-
Mobilize digital followers into real-world action, including events, volunteer outreach, postcards, and grassroots engagement.
-
Educate and encourage voter participation and turnout, particularly in Michigan swing state politics.
-
Provide tools for activism, ballot petition info, and civic participation prompts.
Distill Social operates as a 501(c)(4) social advocacy nonprofit focused on voter education, registration engagement, and political mobilization.
Why It Matters
In an environment where misinformation can suppress turnout and distort public understanding, Distill Social blends independent media, social mobilization, and civic education to empower everyday voters with actionable insights and organizing tools. Its work is particularly impactful in swing states like Michigan, where grassroots energy can influence broader democratic outcomes.
